(Prahlada to his classmates) Gods and demons, mankind and Yaksas hight, And heavenly choristers take delight, As we also enjoy the relish sweet, In service of Mukunda's lotus-feet. 7.1 (7.7.50)

mat-prāptaye ’jeśa-surāsurādayas tapyanta ugraṁ tapa aindriye dhiyaḥ ṛte bhavat-pāda-parāyaṇān na māṁ vindanty ahaṁ tvad-dhṛdayā yato ’jita
(Lakshmi to Narayana) Birthless Brahma, Isha, the deities, And demons, practice fierce austerities, By meditation and sparing no pain, Eager my favours and my grace to gain. But if they are not devoted to thee, Nor serve thy feet, they gain nothing from me. O Invincible, I cannot impart My grace to them since I dwell in thy heart. 7.2 (5.18.22)

Bhakti Ratnavali. 7.3-6
tvayy ambujākṣākhila-sattva-dhāmni samādhināveśita-cetasaike tvat-pāda-potena mahat-kṛtena kurvanti govatsa-padaṁ bhavābdhim
(The gods to Hari in the womb) In you, O Ambujaksa, lotus-eyed, All creatures and all existence abide, And who in contemplation is absorbed, As one upon a ship who climbs aboard, Which represent your feet, they straightway pass, As over a calf's hoofprint on the grass; And thus the wise, devoted, easily, Cross over this vast existential sea. 7.3 (10.2.30)
athāpi te deva padāmbuja-dvaya- prasāda-leśānugṛhīta eva hi jānāti tattvaṁ bhagavan-mahimno na cānya eko ’pi ciraṁ vicinvan
(Brahma to Krishna) But Lord, who of your lotus-feet achieves A jot of grace, your true Godhead conceives; Without which grace you are not to be known, By long study, laborious, alone. 7.4 (10.14.29)
martyo mṛtyu-vyāla-bhītaḥ palāyan lokān sarvān nirbhayaṁ nādhyagacchat tvat pādābjaṁ prāpya yadṛcchayādya susthaḥ śete mṛtyur asmād apaiti
(Devaki to Krishna) The mortals who fearing deaths' serpent flee To diverse regions in perplexity, Still joy and contentment do never meet, Yet if by chance they find your lotus-feet, They rest securely from that very day, And from them death the dreaded runs away. 7.5 (10.3.27)
tasmād rajo-rāga-viṣāda-manyu- māna-spṛhā-bhayadainyādhimūlam hitvā gṛhaṁ saṁsṛti-cakravālaṁ nṛsiṁha-pādaṁ bhajatākutobhayam iti
(Prahlada's advice) Therefore, abandon passions and desire, Do not to pride of high honours aspire, From anger due to frustration refrain, From fear of loss or misery abstain; Forsake the tedium of household life, The cause of metempsychosis and strife; And to be rid of apprehensive fear, To the feet of the Man-lion adhere. 7.6 (5.18.14)

Bhakti Ratnavali. 7.7-8
३ ॥ athāta ānanda-dughaṁ padāmbujaṁ haṁsāḥ śrayerann aravinda-locana sukhaṁ nu viśveśvara yoga-karmabhis tvan-māyayāmī vihatā na māninaḥ
(Uddhava to Krishna) Thus swan-like saints, O Universal Lord, By whom your lotus-like feet are adored, With sound discernment in your grace abide, O store of happiness, O Lotus-eyed! But the vain whom thy power doth delude, By whom yoga and karma are pursued, Distracted by their pride and vanity, They fail, and do not take refuge in thee. 7.7 (11.29.3)
kṛcchro mahān iha bhavārṇavam aplaveśāṁ ṣaḍ-varga-nakram asukhena titīrṣanti tat tvaṁ harer bhagavato bhajanīyam aṅghriṁ kṛtvoḍupaṁ vyasanam uttara dustarārṇam
(Sanat Kumara to Prithu) Afflicted in this existential sea, Are those not devoted to Lord Hari. With fearsome sharks and crocodiles at strife, Assailed by six vicissitudes of life; The sea of existence cannot be crossed Without difficulty, hopelessly lost. Therefore embark on the boat sanctu'ry, Of service to the feet of Lord Hari, Do you the illustrious One adore, And easily cross to the other shore. 7.8 (4.22.40)

Bhakti Ratnavali. 7.9-11
kas tvat-padābjaṁ vijahāti paṇḍito yas te ’vamāna-vyayamāna-ketanaḥ viśaṅkayāsmad-gurur arcati sma yad vinopapattiṁ manavaś caturdaśa
(Rudra's hymn taught to the Pracetas)
Who is that man of discernment and wise, That would thy lotus-feet slight or despise? Our preceptor and father, earnestly, Without hinderance always worships thee; Also the fourteen Manus, as is due, Without restraint his ensample ensue. 7.9 (4.24.67)
yat-pāda-sevābhirucis tapasvinām aśeṣa-janmopacitaṁ malaṁ dhiyaḥ sadyaḥ kṣiṇoty anvaham edhatī satī yathā padāṅguṣṭha-viniḥsṛtā sarit
(Prithu to the citizens assembly)
By service of his feet, the penitent, Relishes of joy the vast increment, And thereby from pollution is refined, Incurred in endless lifetimes in the mind. And thus his sins are soon all washed away, By service of his feet day after day, As the river that doth from his toes rise, By its touch sanctifying purifies. 7.10 (4.21.31)
vinirdhutāśeṣa-mano-malaḥ pumān asaṅga-vijñāna-viśeṣa-vīryavān yad-aṅghri-mūle kṛta-ketanaḥ punar na saṁsṛtiṁ kleśa-vahāṁ prapadyate
Thus cleansed and purified of every stain, The aspirant dispassion doth attain, With wisdom and with potency endued, Attains at his foot-soles beatitude. And is no more subject to death and life, In this worldly whirligig fraught with strife. 7.11 (4.21.32)

Bhakti Ratnavali. 7.12-14
kṛṣṇāṅghri-padma-madhu-liṇ na punar visṛṣṭa- māyā-guṇeṣu ramate vṛjināvaheṣu anyas tu kāma-hata ātma-rajaḥ pramārṣṭum īheta karma yata eva rajaḥ punaḥ syāt (Suka to Pariksit)
And those who are Lord Krishna's devotees, Who lick his lotus-foot-nectar like bees, Renounce the joy of worldly life and things, Whence much unhappiness and sorrow springs. Yet others prompted by their passions vain, The ordinance of ritual maintain, Do not thereby for sins expatiate, But only further sins accumulate. 7.12 (6.3.33)
tad astu me nātha sa bhūri-bhāgo bhave ’tra vānyatra tu vā tiraścām yenāham eko ’pi bhavaj-janānāṁ bhūtvā niṣeve tava pāda-pallavam
(Brahma to Krishna) Therefore, dear Lord, my great fortune would be, To be enrolled as your own devotee, In any place, in heaven or on earth, And in whatever species I take birth; This is the only blessing I entreat, That I may always serve your lotus-feet. 7.13 (10.14.30)
samāśritā ye pada-pallava-plavaṁ mahat-padaṁ puṇya-yaśo murāreḥ bhavāmbudhir vatsa-padaṁ paraṁ padaṁ padaṁ padaṁ yad vipadāṁ na teṣām
(Suka to Pariksit) Who refuge at Murari's feet attain, Of hallowed glory and sanctified fame, Which lotus-feet are like a sturdy boat, Across the sea of existence they float. As easily as one might hope to pass, A hoofprint of a calf upon the grass.; And to the supreme destiny they go, And not the place where step by step is woe. 7.14 (10.14.58)

(Mucukunda to Krishna) Having attained a human birth, most rare, In sound health, and limbs in proportion fair, Yet if from devout service he refrains Of your lotus-feet, is beset with pains; He falls into the dark and dingy well, Like a brute, in the household life to dwell. 7.15 (10.51.46)
viprād dvi-ṣaḍ-guṇa-yutād aravinda-nābha- pādāravinda-vimukhāt śvapacaṁ variṣṭham manye tad-arpita-mano-vacanehitārtha- prāṇaṁ punāti sa kulaṁ na tu bhūrimānaḥ
(Prahalada to Narasimha) A Vipra with twice six virtues endued, But entertains an adverse attitude, By whom your lotus-feet are not adored, Is not as worthy, Lotus-naveled Lord, I ween, as even he who cooks dogs' meat, Whose mind is dedicated to your feet, Who employs his speech, wealth and life beside, He and his family are sanctified; The former in pride of nobility, Cannot e'en gain for himself purity. 7.16 (7.9.10)
tān ānayadhvam asato vimukhān mukunda- pādāravinda-makaranda-rasād ajasram niṣkiñcanaiḥ paramahaṁsa-kulair asaṅgair juṣṭād gṛhe niraya-vartmani baddha-tṛṣṇān
(Yama to his emissaries) Bring those before me who have gone astray, With faces from Mukunda turned away, Who do not the company cultivate, Of swan-like saints who are dispassionate; Who quaff sans intermission honey sweet, Distilled from lotus flowers of his feet; But are rather by cravings bound to dwell In wretched household life, the path to hell. 7.17 (6.3.28)

(Shiva to Krishna) A God-gifted human form having gained, Yet whose senses are not curbed and restrained, Who fails to reverence your holy feet, Is woeful, and only himself doth cheat. 7.18 (10.63.41)
४ ॥ tvat-pāduke avirataṁ pari ye caranti dhyāyanty abhadra-naśane śucayo gṛṇanti vindanti te kamala-nābha bhavāpavargam āśāsate yadi ta āśiṣa īśa nānye
(Yudhisthira to Krishna) The aspirants, O Lotus-naveled Lord, By whom your feet are constantly adored, Who talk about your all auspicious news, In service and deference to your shoes, From transmigratory existence gain Release, and all sundry desires attain. But others who to vain objects aspire, Attain not the fulfilment of desire. 7.19 (10.72.4)

(The serpent wives to Krishna) Those who bear thy foot-dust have no desire For rulership of heavens' vast empire, Nor the state of a high divinity, Nor nether dominion nor sov'reignty; Nor perfection that to mystics befall, For liberation they care not at all. 7.20 (10.16.37)

(Mucukunda to Krishna) I do not but for anything entreat, Than blissful service of thy lotus-feet; To which those who are free from vain desire, With all devotion earnestly aspire; For who is there that would desire from thee, O Giver of salvation, Lord Hari, Or seek for benedictions of such kind, That keep the soul in bondage and confined? 7.21 (10.51.55)
na vayaṁ sādhvi sāmrājyaṁ svārājyaṁ bhaujyam apy uta vairājyaṁ pārameṣṭhyaṁ ca ānantyaṁ vā hareḥ padam kāmayāmaha etasya śrīmat-pāda-rajaḥ śriyaḥ kuca-kuṅkuma-gandhāḍhyaṁ mūrdhnā voḍhuṁ gadā-bhṛtaḥ
(Krishna's queens to Draupadi) O pious dame, we seek not sov'reignty, Nor rulership as a divinity; For powers nor for pleasures we aspire, Nor Paramesthi's supreme realm desire; But what we do desire from Hari, Is his foot-dust transferred from Goddess Sri, With fragrant kumkum from her bosom spread, And that we may bear that upon our head. This is the blessing we seek and the grace, From Lord Krishna, the wielder of the mace. 7.22/23 (10.83.41/42)

(Kavi to Nimi) I think those who desire to be free From fear derived from wrong identity, Should to the worship of his feet adhere, Who is the soul of all, and banish fear. 7.25 (11.2.33)

(Narada to Vyasa) One who has his prescribed duty foreswore, The lotus feet of Hari to adore, If he should fall before maturity, What inauspiciousness for him could be? But one who merely duty doth maintain, Without such worship, what will be his gain? 7.26 (1.5.17)

(Karabhajana to Nimi) Those who have forsaken all other things, And to the service of his foot-soles clings, And to the Supreme Lord Hari adhere, Who is to them, and they to him most dear; If somehow they commit a sinful deed, They are absolved, from iniquity freed, Since he to them pure sanctity imparts, As dwelling in the recess of their hearts. 7.27 (11.5.42)
(Bahulasva to Krishna) Who is that man with wise learning replete, That would forsake your lotus flower feet? You give your very self and are made known, To tranquil saints who call nothing their own. 7.28 (10.86.33)
६ ॥ tāvad bhayaṁ draviṇa-deha-suhṛn-nimittaṁ śokaḥ spṛhā paribhavo vipulaś ca lobhaḥ tāvan mamety asad-avagraha ārti-mūlaṁ yāvan na te ’ṅghrim abhayaṁ pravṛṇīta lokaḥ
(Brahma to Narayana) So long as soul itself identifies With body, the root of perplexities, Wrought up with avarice and passions vain, Accumulate and fear the loss of gain, And burdened by the maintenance of friends, The cause of diverse danger apprehends; Such immense tribulation they must bear, Until sheltered at your feet, free of fear. 7.29 (3.9.6)
jñāna-vairāgya-yuktena bhakti-yogena yoginaḥ kṣemāya pāda-mūlaṁ me praviśanty akuto-bhayam
(Kapila to Devahuti) The devout yogi with wisdom endued, And dispassion, attains beatitude, And to the soles of my feet he adheres, And comes to me, casting away all fears. 7.30 (3.25.43)
ity acyutāṅghriṁ bhajato ’nuvṛttyā bhaktir viraktir bhagavat-prabodhaḥ bhavanti vai bhāgavatasya rājaṁs tataḥ parāṁ śāntim upaiti sākṣāt
(Kavi to Nimi) Therefore, by worshipping Acyuta's feet, The devotee with dispassion replete, The disciplines of devotion maintains, And knowledge of the Supreme Lord attains; Thereon, O king, he directly perceives The supreme state, and final peace achieves. 7.31 (11.2.43)

Who entertains love for the Lord sincere, Who holds wise devotees in friendship dear; Who looks with pity on the ignorant, And to the bad remains indifferent; Such are the signs exhibited and shown Whereby the middling devotee is known. 7.34 (11.2.46)

(Shiva's hymn) The yogis perform diverse rituals, With application of the articles; They contemplate with the senses refined, And thus accomplish purity of mind; The Vedas and the Tantras they pursue, With profound discernment, and worship you. 8.3 (4.2.62)
ayaṁ svasty-ayanaḥ panthā dvi-jāter gṛha-medhinaḥ yac chraddhayāpta-vittena śuklenejyeta pūruṣaḥ
(The sages to Vasudeva and assembly)
The learned authority and the sage, Who see with subtle eye of scriptures' page, Affirm the worthy path of righteousness, Which brings the soul content and happiness. 8.4 (10.84.36)
This righteous path that brings auspiciousness, Affording household twice-borns happiness, Is to with faith and purity and vim, Adore the Supreme Lord and worship him. 8.5 (10.84.37)
naivātmanaḥ prabhur ayaṁ nija-lābha-pūrṇo mānaṁ janād aviduṣaḥ karuṇo vṛṇīte yad yaj jano bhagavate vidadhīta mānaṁ tac cātmane prati-mukhasya yathā mukha-śrīḥ
(Prahlada's speech) The Supreme Lord is fulfilled of desire, And does not honour from any require; But offerings that the ignorant make, He lovingly accepts for mercy's sake. For offerings the devotee conceives, With honour paid, honour himself receives; As when the face is decked with ornaments, The image reflected also augments. 8.6 (7.9.11)
९ ॥ nūnaṁ vimuṣṭa-matayas tava māyayā te ye tvāṁ bhavāpyaya-vimokṣaṇam anya-hetoḥ arcanti kalpaka-taruṁ kuṇapopabhogyam icchanti yat sparśajaṁ niraye ’pi nṝṇām
(Dhruva to Vishnu) Certainly those who worship you and pray, To gratify this vesture of decay, Have been deluded and deprived of sense, Due to your Maya powers' influence; What though you are the one who confers bliss Of salvation from metempsychosis,, As one the wish fulfilling tree may reach, And but for hellish pleasure does beseech. 8.7 (4.9.9)

Bhakti Ratnavali. 8.8/9
yat-pādayor aśaṭha-dhīḥ salilaṁ pradāya dūrvāṅkurair api vidhāya satīṁ saparyām apy uttamāṁ gatim asau bhajate tri-lokīṁ dāśvān aviklava-manāḥ katham ārtim ṛcchet
(Brahma to Vamana regarding Bali)
Whoever offers with sincerity, With loving faith directed unto thee, And proffers at thy feet water and grains, And flowers, the ultimate state attains. Now he has consecrated sans reserve, The triple world, then how does he deserve To suffer arrest and indignity, Who faithful offered all he had to thee? 8.8 (8.22.23)
evaṁ kriyā-yoga-pathaiḥ pumān vaidika-tāntrikaiḥ arcann ubhayataḥ siddhiṁ matto vindaty abhīpsitām
(Krishna to Uddhava) Who thus yoga and rituals maintain, As Vaidik and the tantrik texts ordain, And worships me on these methods intent, Receives from me the highest fulfilment. 8.9 (11.27.49)
Thus ends the Eighth Strand in the necklace of gems, Bhakti Ratnavali, consisting of gem-like verses from Srimad Bhagavatam, selected and arranged by Vishnu Puri.
