Sri Bhatki Ratnavali An anthology of Bhagavatam verses by Vishnu Puri. Sri Jiva mentions it in his Tattva Sandarbha (There also exist a variety of Nibhandhas composed by distinguished authors, well known for their interpretations, such as the Muktaphala, Harilila and Bhaktiratnavali. Anuched 23) Invocation All hail to him in whom all creatures dwell! Said to be born of Devaki as well; Attended by chiefs of the Yadu clan, Whose mighty arm subdues unrighteous man; Who terminates the miserable lot Of all creatures that move or that move not; Yea, when his smiling countenance is shown The women of the pasture and the town Feel augmentation of the soft desires, That Cupid, God of Love, in them inspires. 1 (10.90.48) Whose praise, whose recollection and whose sight, Bowing to whom in homage and delight; Hearing of whom and worshipping with love, Doth straightway mans' iniquity remove; All hail to him of pure hallowed renown, To him in salutation I bow down. 2 (2.4.15) All hail to him again of puissant grace! Who doth the sorrows of the good efface; Who of the wicked quells the influence, Whose form is eviternal existence; Who endows truth seekers with wisdom pure; And swan-like saints their cherished state secure. 3 (2.4.13) Husband of Shree, of sacrifice the Lord, Of subject creatures the Master adored; The ruler of thought and the intellect, Who doth the masters of the world direct; Lord of the Earth, the Master and the guide Of dynasties by firm friendship allied, The clans of Andhaka and of Vrishni, And Yadus of Satvata pedigree. May that Almighty Illustrious One, Lord of devotees, grant his benison. 4 (2.4.20) I bow to Vyasa’s son of vast insight, Who bears of scriptures’ essence the torch light, Who sublime knowledge of the self bestows, Whereby the soul can overcome all woes; For those in the transmigratory state, This text, compassionate, did iterate; The secret Purana that sanctifies, I bow to him, the teacher of the wise. 5 (1.2.3) Hearing from a distance of its great fame, To the sea of the Bhagavat I came, And plunged into ambrosia profound, And by Krishna's grace I could see, and found Glistering gems in vast abundance stored; Of verses treating worship of the Lord. 6 With scrutiny I have collected these, Chiefly for pleasure of the devotees; Verses which the articles of love show, In adoration pure of Mura's foe. And as the Lord in my heart may direct, I shall these gems from that ocean collect. 7 These verses upon a fine necklace strung, Worn around the neck, which is to say, sung; Kept in the house which represents the heart, All gloom will vanish and darkness depart; May this gem necklace by the good be worn, Called Bhakti Ratnavali and adorn, Replete with sentiments of love sublime, Directed to the Supreme Lord divine. 8
There many are indeed who would incline To learn the Bhagavat, but have not time; May this attempt for such devotees be, Of verses gathered by Vishnu Puri, Disposed in order and in sequence due, Of benefit and easy to pursue. 9

Indeed, mans' highest duty is to be Devoted to Adhoksaja Hari; Sans motive and without impediment, Whereby the soul achieves supreme content. 10 (1.2.6)
The yoga of devotion when applied, To mighty Vasudev, eschewing pride, Engenders dispassion without delay, And doth the light of true wisdom display. 11 (1.2.7)
Sattva, Rajas, Tamas, the gunas three, Are assumed by the Supreme Deity, And thus the one into three parts divides, And each over each quality presides. Hari, resorting to Sattva, upholds, From Virinchi the creation unfolds, And when the form of Hara he assumes, With his power the universe consumes. Among all these the Sattva form sublime, Affords mankind beatitude divine. 12 (1.2.23)
Thus poets and devotees take delight The deeds of the Almighty to recite; Since worship of Vasudeva the Lord, To the self doth beatitude afford. 13 (1.2.22)
The seekers of salvation shun the hosts Of Bhuta-pati's elemental ghosts; But worship the emanations sublime, Sans envy, of Narayana divine. 14 (1.2.26)
Desireless, with all desires possessed, Or seeking to be with salvation bless'd, Those discerning, with intense devotion, Will worship the Supreme Primeval One. 15 (2.3.10)
Vasudeva in the Vedas is shown; Vasudeva as the pure rite is known; Vasudeva is the yoga supreme; Vasudeva as pure duty is seen; Vasudeva is high wisdoms' decrees; Vasudeva is strict austerities; Vasudeva is righteousness sublime; Vasudeva is final goal divine. 16/17 (1.2.28/29)
By yoga practices strictly maintained, Lust and greed are not easily restrained, As by satisfaction derived complete, In service to Mukunda's holy feet. 18 (1.6.35)
In loving communion he fixed his mind, In contemplation, taintless and refined, He then beheld the Perfect Being Great, And saw Maya in her dependent state. 19 (1.7.4)

Vishnu Puri, continuing his general observations on the character of bhakti cites two spoken by Kapila to Devahuti.
śrī-bhagavān uvāca devānāṁ guṇa-liṅgānām ānuśravika-karmaṇām sattva evaika-manaso vṛttiḥ svābhāvikī tu yā animittā bhāgavatī bhaktiḥ siddher garīyasī//
When faculties of sense perception tend, And acts are done as scripture doth commend, Intent on one singular objective, Spontaneously and without motive, With love directed to the Supreme Lord, Surpasseth even salvation's reward. 20 (3.25.32)
And,
jarayaty āśu yā kośaṁ nigīrṇam analo yathā//
The subtle body is consumed entire, As food digested is by gastric fire. 21 (3.25.33)

Continuing Vishnu Puri's Bhakti Ratnavali, an anthology of Bhagavata verses.
(Kapila to Devahuti)
naikātmatāṁ me spṛhayanti kecin mat-pāda-sevābhiratā mad-īhāḥ ye ’nyonyato bhāgavatāḥ prasajya sabhājayante mama pauruṣāṇi
But there are some who longingly aspire To me, and service of my feet desire; These Bhagavats foregather to prolong My deeds heroic and virtues in song. They relish in my service such delight, And would not in oneness with me unite. 22 (3.25.34)
paśyanti te me rucirāṇy amba santaḥ prasanna-vaktrāruṇa-locanāni rūpāṇi divyāni vara-pradāni sākaṁ vācaṁ spṛhaṇīyāṁ vadanti
O mother, they behold my charming face With dawn-red eyes, beaming with smiles of grace; Those devotees to see me always pine, And I display my gentle forms divine; They converse with familiarity, And with their pleasant speech they talk to me. 23 (3.25.35)

tair darśanīyāvayavair udāra- vilāsa-hāsekṣita-vāma-sūktaiḥ hṛtātmano hṛta-prāṇāṁś ca bhaktir anicchato me gatim aṇvīṁ prayuṅkte/
These forms when they behold with vast delight, Playful, noble, with smiling glances bright, Their hearts, minds and senses engrossed in me, They relish pure devotions' ecstasy; Though salvation they do not seek to gain, They nevertheless salvation attain. 24 (3.25.36)
atho vibhūtiṁ mama māyāvinas tām aiśvaryam aṣṭāṅgam anupravṛttam śriyaṁ bhāgavatīṁ vāspṛhayanti bhadrāṁ parasya me te ’śnuvate tu loke/
And thus they do not seek my splendid state, Nor wealth, nor the yoga perfections eight; They do not hope my supreme realm to gain, But that and more in this world they obtain. 25 (3.25.37)

na karhicin mat-parāḥ śānta-rūpe naṅkṣyanti no me ’nimiṣo leḍhi hetiḥ yeṣām ahaṁ priya ātmā sutaś ca sakhā guruḥ suhṛdo daivam iṣṭam
Never at any time, O mother dear, Need my devotees be subject to fear; They are not dislodged from their cherished aim, Neither from time nor sword an hurt sustain; Because they have for me friendship sincere, And I as the beloved self am dear, They view me as preceptor, friend and son, Well wishing Deity and chosen One. 26 (3.25.38)

Bhakti Ratnavali, 1.27-30. Kapila to Devahuti.
imaṁ lokaṁ tathaivāmum ātmānam ubhayāyinam ātmānam anu ye ceha ye rāyaḥ paśavo gṛhāḥ visṛjya sarvān anyāṁś ca mām evaṁ viśvato-mukham bhajanty ananyayā bhaktyā tān mṛtyor atipāraye
They are not into fond attachment hurled, Nor in this world nor in the other world; For the body and those things related, Cattle and wealth, good sons and the homestead; But worship me the Universal Lord, And beyond death I take them for reward. 27/28 (3.25.39/40)
nānyatra mad bhagavataḥ pradhāna-puruṣeśvarāt ātmanaḥ sarva-bhūtānāṁ bhayaṁ tīvraṁ nivartate
Otherwise there is none aside from me, Of the soul and nature the Deity; Whom beings can resort to and revere, And cast away the dread of mortal fear. 29 (3.25.41)
tasmāt tvaṁ sarva-bhāvena bhajasva parameṣṭhinam tad-guṇāśrayayā bhaktyā bhajanīya-padāmbujam
Therefore you should in every way adore The Lord Almighty, and his grace implore; Resort to him, with all virtues replete; Most worshipable are his lotus-feet. 30 (3.32.22)

tam eva vatsāśraya bhṛtya-vatsalaṁ mumukṣubhir mṛgya-padābja-paddhatim ananya-bhāve nija-dharma-bhāvite manasy avasthāpya bhajasva pūruṣam
(Suniti to Dhruva) My dear son, to that Supreme Lord repair, Who doth for his servants affection bear; Whom those in search of salvation implore, Whose lotus-feet they worship and adore; Thus to your own duty being consigned, With concentration singular of mind, He should by you be worshipped and adored, Who is the Supreme illustrious Lord. 31 (4.8.22)
nānyaṁ tataḥ padma-palāśa-locanād duḥkha-cchidaṁ te mṛgayāmi kañcana yo mṛgyate hasta-gṛhīta-padmayā śriyetarair aṅga vimṛgyamāṇayā
Certes I know of none other beside The Lord Almighty and the lotus-eyed, Who can afford his refugees relief, And cut away their sorrow and their grief; For even Shree, sought by many and great, That would by her be bless'd and fortunate, Yet she who in her hand a lots bears, To serve his feet with love to him repairs. 32 (4.8.23)

athābhaje tvākhila-pūruṣottamaṁ guṇālayaṁ padma-kareva lālasaḥ apy āvayor eka-pati-spṛdhoḥ kalir na syāt kṛta-tvac-caraṇaika-tānayoḥ
(Prithu to Narayana ) Now I to serve the Supreme Lord am fain, The repository of hallowed fame, As she a lotus in her hand who bears, That longing to serve your lotus-feet shares; Will not some contention from this ensue, And rivalry arise between us two? 33 (4.20.27)
jagaj-jananyāṁ jagad-īśa vaiśasaṁ syād eva yat-karmaṇi naḥ samīhitam karoṣi phalgv apy uru dīna-vatsalaḥ sva eva dhiṣṇye ’bhiratasya kiṁ
O Universal Lord and Deity, I think for this she may be wroth with me, I may the mother of the world offend, Considering that I with her contend. But you will show your favours all the more, Who are greatly affected to the poor; For you are satisfied in your own bliss, Therefore, what need is she to you in this? 34 (4.20.28)

More Bhakti Ratnavali. Shiva to the brothers Pracetas.
yaḥ paraṁ raṁhasaḥ sākṣāt tri-guṇāj jīva-saṁjñitāt bhagavantaṁ vāsudevaṁ prapannaḥ sa priyo hi me
Whoever hath surrendered to the Lord Illustrious Vasudeva adored; The Master of souls and the gunas three, Are most exceedingly belov'd of me. 35 (4.24.28)
atha bhāgavatā yūyaṁ priyāḥ stha bhagavān yathā na mad bhāgavatānāṁ ca preyān anyo ’sti karhicit
Ye are indeed great devotees I ween, As dear to me as is the Lord Supreme, And for devotees of the Deity, There is no one, no, none as dear as me. 36 (4.24.30)

Bhakti Ratnavali. 1.37
(Narada to Prachinabarhi) That act is worthy, pleasing to Hari, And learning of him is the best study; That Hari doth himself nature control, And is the self of each embodied soul. 37 (4.29.49)
In the Bhagavatam I have this is the last line from 49 and the first line from 50

The next citation in Bhakti Ratnavali is an often quoted verse, followed by a variously interpreted one 🙂 . Prahlada speaking.
yasyāsti bhaktir bhagavaty akiñcanā sarvair guṇais tatra samāsate surāḥ harāv abhaktasya kuto mahad-guṇā manorathenāsati dhāvato bahiḥ
Those who are with selfless devotion blest, Of all god-like qualities are possessed, But those without devotion for Hari, What higher virtues in them could there be? Who are to outward conceptions confined, Carried on the chariot of the mind. 38 (5.18.12)
harir hi sākṣād bhagavān śarīriṇām ātmā jhaṣāṇām iva toyam īpsitam hitvā mahāṁs taṁ yadi sajjate gṛhe tadā mahattvaṁ vayasā dampatīnām
Sri Hari is himself the Supreme whole, And of all creatures embodied the soul; All have their being and subsist in him, As fishes in the ocean like to swim. Whoever such a wondrous state forsakes, Fondly bound, to the home his way betakes; His only claim to greatness in this life, Is that he might be older than his wife. 39 (5.18.13)

Bhakti Ratnavali 40
Lakshmi's eulogy.
sa vai patiḥ syād akutobhayaḥ svayaṁ samantataḥ pāti bhayāturaṁ janam sa eka evetarathā mitho bhayaṁ naivātmalābhād adhi manyate param
He is the worthy consort I revere, For whom there is no one to cause him fear; Since those who are themselves by fear aggrieved, Approaching him, of all fear are relieved. He revels in his own inherent bliss, With nothing incongruous or amiss; As he is one and the exclusive truth, There is no one for him to fear forsooth. 40 (5.18.20)

Bhakti Ratnavali 41/41 Hanuman's eulogy.
८ ॥ suro ’suro vāpy atha vānaro naraḥ sarvātmanā yaḥ sukṛtajñam uttamam bhajeta rāmaṁ manujākṛtiṁ hariṁ ya uttarān anayat kosalān divam iti
Let all, whether of god or demon clan, A sylvan creature of the wood or man, Worship Hari as Rama, in the guise As son of man, with lotus-petal eyes; Who upon the inhabiters conferred, Of Upper Koshala to be transferred, And to his divine region all attained, And the bliss of supreme salvation gained. 41 (5.19.8 )
७ ॥ na janma nūnaṁ mahato na saubhagaṁ na vāṅ na buddhir nākṛtis toṣa-hetuḥ tair yad visṛṣṭān api no vanaukasaś cakāra sakhye bata lakṣmaṇāgrajaḥ
Nor noble birth nor worthy pedigree, Nor eloquence, nor vast prosperity, Nor subtle wit, nor comeliness of face, Can win from Lakshman's elder his fair grace; Mark how friendship even with us he made, Who dwell in the forest and woody shade. 42 (5.19.7)

(The gods observe) In truth he grants boons to those who implore With motive, yet they soon beseech for more; But those who selflessly his love entreat, He fills their wants and grants his lotus-feet. 43 (5.19.27)
५ ॥ tat sādhu manye ’sura-varya dehināṁ sadā samudvigna-dhiyām asad-grahāt hitvātma-pātaṁ gṛham andha-kūpaṁ vanaṁ gato yad dharim āśrayeta
(Prahlada to Hiranyakashipu)
O chief of Asuras, I think it best, For bodied souls, deluded and distressed, To forsake home, like a dark empty well, And seeking Hari, in the forest dwell. 44 (7.5.5)
