www.youtube.com/watch?v=8T_jwq9ph8kWhy do people see the Virgin Mary on cheese sandwiches or hear demonic lyrics in "Stairway to Heaven"? Using video, images and music, professional skeptic Michael Shermer explores these and other phenomena, including UFOs and alien sightings. He offers cognitive context: In the absence of sound science, incomplete information can combine with the power of suggestion (helping us hear those Satanic lyrics in Led Zeppelin). In fact, he says, humans tend to convince ourselves to believe: We overvalue the "hits" that support our beliefs, and discount the more numerous "misses."Nitai ji, I just posted this because we had talked about UFOs and alien sightings. Either, the skeptics are not seeing paranormal activity or like Shermer says we are trying to find pattern where there are none.

I think most of that is nonsense. But, there is the question of the validity of the paranormal. Shermer is one of the deniers of evidence that I think should be taken more seriously. I noticed in his presentation that he brushed it off as more reasonable to think that it was all bunk because some of it was. This is silly and not at all reasonable. Though I admire Shermer and others like him, think they have their heads wedged when they make statements like that. It demonstrates that they are not really interested in uncovering the truth, only in being right.

I haven't checked the link yet, but you know the Beatles had intentionally done backward messages on their record Sgt. Peppers. Marketing agencies do tons of subliminal messaging. Being that Jimmy Page owns Aleister Crowley's castle, and had an intense fascination with the occult, it is highly likely to me that he had a hand in creating backward messages. The lyrics of Stairway to Heaven, clearly say, "There is power in Satan" and "Satan is the Lord" and "Satan Satan." I would say that was Satan too many times in a song that is supposed to be about a Stairway to Heaven. The backward messages from ACBVSP's death and the voices of those around him are also pretty creepy.
