Pranams Lovelies!
Somebody left a comment somewhere on this site referrring us to the site www.shaktitechnology.com or .org or something or other.
I'm watching a video, Spirituality and the Brain, by that guy on google videos right now that corresponds to the recent topic of the circular logic of sabda praman discussed here;
caitanyasympos.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=textualcriticism&thread=633&page=3#6413
and here;
caitanyasympos.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=pramana&thread=371&page=1#6415
If you go here;
video.google.com/videoplay?docid=2184059515285733378#
and start watching from the 35:00 onward mark, he explains pretty succinctly, in my opinion, the concept of "God" in the Raganuga (manasik) tradition.
The question of "does God create us or do we create God?" is an especially interesting one when applied to the way "God" is approached in Vaidhi Bhakti as opposed to Raganuga Bhakti.
He makes it clear that God is not "proved" nor "disproved" through the particular technology that he is using. I find that much more intellectually honest and practical approach than the circular logic of "shastric praman" which, as I stated elsewhere, I am convinced Sri Jiva Goswami only incorporated that "praman" into his list due to the prevailing culture of his time, and not out of any convinction of it's validity himself. I personally like to envision Sri Jiva Goswami as far too brilliant to engage in something like circular logic.
At around 37:00 he comes out with (paraphrased) "if God is in your brain rather than outside of you, how great that would be because you are then free to work out the most personally beautiful and uplifting concept of God that you can!" ....
Which is of course what our Goswamis have done.
