Here is Śrī Śivānanda Cakravartī’s Śrī Gadādharāṣṭakaṁ. In his Gauḍiya Vaisnava Abhidhāna, Haridās Dās offers the following report of Śivānanda Cakravatī, “He was a Vrajavāsī; and a śākhā, or branch, of Śrī Gadādhara Pandit’s lineage. The Gauragaṇaddeśedīpikā 183, states that his manjarī svarūpa in the Vraj līlā is an emanation, or expansion, of Lavanga Manjarī. He is also mentioned in the CC ādi/12/87 cakravattī śivānanda sadā vrajavāsī; and likewise finds mention in the śākhānirṇayāmrita 20,
śivānandahaḥ vande kumudānandanāmakaṁ
rasojjvalajutaḥ svaccah vrindākānana-vāsinam
śrīla śrīgadādharāṣṭakaṁ (śārdūlavikrīḍitam 12-7)
rādhākṛṣṇa prakāśajanakaṁ śrīrādhikāsampūṭaṁ,
vṛndāraṇyasukhapracārakamalaṁ stambhādibhāvānvitam |
śrīgaurāṅgamahāprabhorvrajarasāmodāvatārākaraṁ,
vande śrīlagadādharaṁ gurumahaṁ śrīpaṇḍitākhyaṁ prabhum ||1||
Gadādhara reveals (the rasa of) Rādhā and Krṣṇa, and he is the samputa (treasure chest-like) Śrī Rādhīkā herself. As he widely proclaims (pracārakam) the stainless glory of the vrindāranya-suka (the joy of Vraj’s forests) all the sattvika bhāvās, like sthamba, decorate his body. He is an avatār of the āmodā, or pleasure, inherent in the vraja rasa belonging to Śrī Gaurānga Mahāprabhu. My homage to you, Śrīla Gadādhara, my Guru and my Prabhu, appearing in your form of a Śrī-Pandita. (1)
gaurapremavitānadānakuśalaṁ premārthināṁ premadaṁ,
sevādharma vidhāyakaṁ trijagati svaprema sampatpradam |
mādṛgduḥkhamataṅgadāraṇahariṁ gaurāṅghrisevāsukhaṁ,
vande śrīlagadādharaṁ gurumahaṁ śrīpaṇḍitākhyaṁ prabhum ||2||
He bestows the wealth of gaura-prema with kuṣalaṁ (in a happy and adept spirit,) emulates the precepts of seva-dharma, and awards the three worlds with the treasure of his svaprema-sampata (the riches his own prema.) Pierce the elephant of my misery with your lion-like stealth and grant me the joy of serving the lotus feet of Gaurā. I worship you, Śrīla Gadādhara, my Guru and Prabhu, appearing in your guise as a Śrī-Pandita. (2)
śrīcaitanyaharerananyamahasaḥ premāsampadaṁ bhutale,
rādhākṛṣṇa rasābdhinā jagadidaṁ maṅgīkṛtaṁ yena tam | śrīgaurāṅgaharerananyadayitaṁ gaurāṅghribhājāṁ varaṁ,
vande śrīlagadādharaṁ gurumahaṁ śrīpaṇḍitākhyaṁ prabhum ||3||
There is no one as close to Śrī Caitanya as Gadādhara, and upon the surface of this earth he is like a receptacle containing prema (from which) he drowns the world in an ocean of rādhā-krṣṇa-rasa. He is Śrī Gaurānga’s highly favoured dayita (beloved) and it is he who is the most worthy recipient of Gaurānga’s lotus-like feet. I worship Gadādhara, for he is my Guru and my Prabhu, appearing now in the form of a Śrī-Pandita. (3)
tīrthanyāsa sadādṛtaṁ svavapusā śrīpuṇḍarīkapriyaṁ,
rādhākṛṣṇa navojjvalapraghaṭitapremapranāśāspadam | bhūgarbhādiyadīyabhaktasakalapremapradāṅghridvayaṁ,
vande śrīlagadādharaṁ gurumahaṁ śrīpaṇḍitākhyaṁ prabhum ||4||
Gadādhara, forever dear to the memory of Śrī Puṇḍarīka, upheld with unwavering adherence his vow of tirtha-sannyasa by remaining physically present (in Puri.) He is a living chalice (or container) of Rādhā and Krṣṇa’s ever fresh and bright prema, which he confers upon all of his bhaktas like Bhūgarbha and others who have love for his lotus feet. My homage to you, Śrīla Gadādhara, my Guru, and my Lord, appearing in your form of a Śrī-Pandita. (4)
śrīmadrāsarasādisarvasukhadaṁ śrīgauradehādvayaṁ,
śrīcaitanyapadāmbujaikabhajanadvārāṅghripaṅkeruham |
śrīmadgauragaṇāśrayāśrayajanābhīṣṭapradāgresaraṁ,
vande śrīlagadādharaṁ gurumahaṁ paṇḍitākhyaṁ prabhum ||5||
He takes exquisite joy in the diverse rasa (humour or taste) of the glorious rāsa (the rāsa dance,) and he is verily the second body of Śrī Gaura. Exclusive bhajana of Ṣrī Caitanya’s lotus feet is the same as the bhajana of his lotus feet, as anyone who has ever taken Śrīmad Gaurānga as their sole refuge, do likewise aspire for his lotus feet. My homage to you, Śrīla Gadādhara, my lord and preceptor, now taking the form of a Śrī Pandita. (5)
bhūgarbhādimadīyakāsu tanuṣu premaprakāśīkṛtaṁ,
brahmānantaśivāmarādisakalāgamyaṁ rasālambanam | matsarvasvapadāmbujaṁ navanava śrībhaktisiddhāntadaṁ,
vande śrīlagadādharaṁ gurumahaṁ śrīpaṇḍitākhyaṁ prabhum ||6||
He gives prema to Bhūgarbha and others who adore him as their own (madīya-bhāva) and the rasa he delivers (to them) remains far beyond the reach of Brahma, Ananta, Śiva and the entire host of other gods. The lotus-like feet of he, who imparts ever fresh and novel śrī-bhakti-siddāntas while appearing before me in his form as a śri-pandita, are my all in all. I adore this Śrīla Gadādhara, my Guru, and my Prabhu. (6)
vṛndāraṇyasusevanādisakalaṁ śrīrādhikākṛṣṇayor,
yenāsaṅkhyamadāyi tacca sukhadaṁ śrīgauralīlāmṛtam | vairāgyaikanidānamārgasakalaṁ draṣṭāramasmāsu taṁ,
vande śrīlagadādharaṁ gurumahaṁ śrīpaṇḍitākhyaṁ prabhum ||7||
He is familiar with every feature of the finest seva that Śrī Rādhīkā and Krṣṇa (are accustomed to) receive in Vrindā’s forest, and the sukha of this particular seva, he unites with śrīgauralīlāmrita (the nectar of Gaura-līlā). He meticulously preserves the expected customs of vairagya, but merely for the sake of people like us. My homage unto you, Śrīla Gadādhara, preceptor and Lord of my life, appearing in your form as a Śrī Pandita. (7)
svarṇābhaṁ sumukhaṁ dayālumamalaṁ mādṛg janānandanaṁ,
vairāgyaikasusīma kṛṣṇadayitamukhyaṁ dvijendraṁ prabhum |
gaurapremasudhāśritaikaśaraṇaṁ premasvarūpākṛtiṁ,
vande śrīlagadādharaṁ gurumahaṁ śrīpaṇḍitākhyaṁ prabhum ||8||
May Gadādhara’s limbs of lustrous gold, and his spotless and beautiful face, which is an abode of mercy, make me happy! (says Śivānanda Cakravattī.) His vairāgya surpasses the furthest boundaries of all reckoning, and he is krṣṇa-dayita (Krṣṇa’s beloved), and Dwijendra Prabhu (the prince of Dwijas). His sole refuge is the prema-sudhā he cherishes for Gaurā, and he is truly the svarūpa of such (Gaurā) prema. My homage to you, Śrīla Gadādhara, my Guru, and my Lord, appearing in your form of a Śrī-Pandita. (8)
śrīgaurasya gadādharasya sudhiyobhedaṁ na paśyanti ye,
buddhyātai paripaṭhyatāṁ khalu tadā śrīpaṇḍitasyāṣṭakam | rādhākṛṣṇarasābdhipānajanakaślokaṁ satāṁ vallabhaṁ,
śrīgaurāṅgagadādharāṅghrikamalaṁ nityaṁ yadā prārthyate ||9||
Those who habitually read this śrīpanditāsṭhakaṁ shall be graced with wisdom and no longer entertain a difference between Śrī Gourā and Gadādhara. They will drink deep from the ocean of rādhākrṣṇa-rasa, and attain lasting affinity for the lotus-like feet of Śrī Gaurānga-Gadādhara. (9)
nikhilanigamasāraṁ śrīmadīśāṣṭakaṁ yaḥ,
smarati paṭhati nityaṁ śrīśivānandadakana
bhanitamidamapūrvaṁ śrīlagaurāṅghripadma
savasumadhurabhāvaṁ prāpnuyāt premannāk saḥ ||10||
By reciting and contemplating this śrīmadīśa-asṭhakaṃ, which is the essence of all nigamas and written by Śivānanda, one shall hear of the apurvā (exceptional) su-madhura-bhāva of Śrila Gaurānga’s lotus feet and attain prema. (10)
