Radhe Radhe!!
A nice opportunity has presented itself through my employer. They asked for volunteers to attend a full yoga teacher training course so that we could then turn around a provide yoga classes to veterans as well as staff at the VA (Dept. of Veterans Affairs). I jumped on the opportunity! Normally these trainings run more than $3,000! So to get it next to free is awesome.
This is a teacher training in the Hatha Yoga tradition. It is being provided by a studio called Raja Yoga in Philadelphia. It's going to run every other weekend starting the first weekend in June and run through the end of September. So I'll be pushing my India trip until this teacher training is complete. Hopefully India will have it's borders open to tourist visa holders by then!
In terms of costs, I've only had to purchase texts for the course, which ran me about $150 and its possible I may have that reimbursed. I actually had two of the texts in my library already! I wanted to post the book list for the course to let you know some of what I'll be reading from now until the end of September...
The Science of Breath by Rama, Ballentine, and Hymes
The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali Satchidananda Saraswati edition
Tao Te Ching Stephen Mitchell edition
Radical Healing by Rudolph Ballentine Yoga Sequencing by Mark Stephens
Ayurveda: The Science of Self-Healing by Dr. Vasant Lad
The Bhagavad Gita Eknath Easwaren edition
Yoga Anatomy by Leslie Kaminoff
The Yoga Anatomy Coloring Book by Kelly Solloway
That's all for now. Jai Sri Radhe!!

Congratulations! Nice to have a job, a government one at that which encourages sattvic practices like yoga to be part of its health training. Good sign you are in the right trade!
