First of all, India hardly represents the entire world. Secondly, stop looking to the news cycle to figure out what the actual trends are. 70 years of peace with no wars between any major states (nations), increased prosperity, better education, etc. Those are the actual trends, so don't be misled by the news media that wants ratings by presenting stories on the 'if it bleeds it leads' criterion. Not a good post for this forum, kdb91.
There is a lot of baggage to unpack on this subject. One current factor is, as you have insinuated, the Russian bots out there hacking people's brains via social media. The nature of human society, as we have discussed on other threads, is complex, irrespective of any specific culture within a nation state. I don't really see any need to dive deeper into this murky and muddy swamp. If you see fit to delete the thread upon further consideration, I am sure one of the moderators can accommodate you.
Certainly there is no censorship (within reason, of course) here on posts. My own ideal with respect to posts on news is articles that are about events within the CV community in particular. If someone wants to post regarding the imminent presidential election in the US, feel free to do so, especially if you think the outcome will have some impact on issues one way or the other. I am not going to comment on that subject. I am sure Pandit Nitaiji might have a thing or two to say about it, but maybe not. He is busy otherwise, so I hope he does not spend any time on it.
There's a hole in the world with a great big pit And it is filled with people who are full of shit. And we all deserve to die.
What more can one say? It is good to be reminded of the evil and danger of the world even for those who appear harmless and good. The Hindu response of course is karma. Perhaps the good swami did something vile in a past life and payed for it now. Who knows? Now those who made him pay will have to pay. We are all full of shit!
