What is the point of your post exactly, ing? What mystery? One is compelled to ask.

Of course not. This is all bullshit, or maybe in this context I should say horseshit. Fanatics of every tradition, Christian, Jewish, Islamic, and Hindu, have tried to claim that their scriptures present scientifically sound representations of the world and it is all attempted by misreading and misinterpreting the old texts. It is a desperate effort by dying religions to try to claim modern day relevance and attribute truth to iron age mythological texts. I have at least three books written by Hindus who push similar claims about Hinduism and one by a Jewish putz. None of them are scientists and none of them can read Sanskrit (or ancient Hebrew). They just make up nonsense and wishful readers believe it. It is a sad thing to see.

They just make up nonsense and wishful readers believe it. It is a sad thing to see. Who is the best translation of the Vedas? I think the best translation so far is that of Jamison and Brereton in three volumes. You can find it here.By the way, their translation of 1.164.9 is this: The mother was harnessed to the yoke-pole of the sacrificial reward; her child stood up amid the penned cows. The calf [=Agni] bellowed and looked toward the cow of every color [=Dawn],three wagon treks (in the distance). (9) I think it goes with and continues the thought of Verse 8 which is: The mother [=Dawn] gave her father [=the Sun/Heaven] a share in the truth, for in the beginning, through her insight, she united (with him) by her mind. Recoiling, she whose essence was her child [=Agni/the Sun] was pierced (by her father). Just those offering their reverence went to the (morning) invocation. (8) By this account the mother that is featured in both verses is Dawn, who according to ancient myth had an incestuous relationship with her father (either the Sun or Heaven). One more translation to add to the mix from Dr. Kunhan Raja (1956): The mother was tied on to the yoke of the right-side; the womb has been remaining within the water-cloud. The calf lowed, looked toward the cow having all forms, in the three expanses of space. (9) More grist for the mill. I will go back to the translation of Sayana on 1.164.9 soon.

Of course not. This is all bullshit, or maybe in this context I should say horseshit... If we're comparing things to various shits, I think bullshit is sattva guna, horseshit is rajo guna, and dogshit is tamo guna. You know, just for future scholarly analysis
