A cowherd damsel, having got hold of Krishna's flute, addresses an appeal to it in words like these, Oh flute! who always the sweet nectar sips, Distilled from dear Mukunda's smiling lips, I bow to you, and ask this boon today; That when you touch those gem-like lips, convey To Nanda's son, whispering in his ear, The wretched state and misery I bear. Krishna Karnamrtam 2.11, also cited in Ujjvala Nilamani as an illustration of the transitory emotion of 'dainya' which Jiva interprets as, 'to make flattering speeches from a sense of dejection.' U.N. 13.12
