Radhe Radhe!
As I read 'New Seeds of Contemplation' by Thomas Merton, I think what a fantastic CV book this could be with some slight modification. How could this be done without plagiarism? Like if it was 95% Merton and 5% me, what would be the proper way to write something like that? Or would it be best to write a commentary on what he has written so to speak?

Why not write a review, analysis, or a summary of the book?

I agree with Madanmohandasji. Write your own essay with liberal quotations from Merton, clearly demarcated and with proper references. And, give a good bibliography at the end with proper references to your sources so that readers can check your quotations if they want. If it works out well you might try to get it published in some journal related to Merton studies, eventually. Nobody will complain if it is done with such transparency. Post it here and we will help you clarify your thinking on it.

I guess the difficulty is that, as I said before, Merton has written it already so well. If I only made selections, I wouldn't be doing it justice. But I'll make a small start and see what it looks like.
