Camera freezes bhav and make singer look grotesque. If you actually SAW Aretha Franklin recording her songs you will throw away her LP's, (though i LIKED seeing James Brown for his clownishnish.) I prefers sound recording. so i make little movie with pictures and put on Utube. When you planning to climb on stage? Is you strumming a guitar with your song? I's still polishing my song.

Hey, you're a professional. You are playing the keyboard? Who is singing? I'm gona haf to practice more. Yes, I am playing guitar and I am also thinking of writing a new song. Time we did things in English and other languages. It is difficult business to do it tastefully.
I will make a video. So prepare your eyes for the shock.

Not so hard man. Just get one basic melody that you like with all your soul and make it as melodious as possible. Do nOT get complicated. It is risky. Plus you not on American idol. You just want the lord to ENJOY the music. Record the song many times to hear the mistakes. Make SURE voice harmonise with guitar and is not stressful! Voices these days are very aggravated. ( money concerns probably)

Yes. This is my problem at the moment: getting the singing to match the playing. I usually just play and do not sing. It is hard to put them together. I am working on it.

Inshallah!! why can't you just clap with the song? We started out with the idea of sharing bhav bhakti songs. not conducting an orchestra on stage. Tape the playing, then sing over it.

I want to encourage my little sister to post more kirtan. I will also post some soon. But I can't just clap and sing and stomp my feet after the nice productions she has made. Kirtan is an act of worship. It should take some care and attention. I want to try to teach my guitar to sing the names of Krsna. If Stevie Vai can make his guitar speak, maybe I can teach mine to speak Hari's names.

Only a blinking oaf couldn't figure that "my" Ashtakam is a studio engineered production. The vocal isn't hard, but i couldn't combine it with music so precisely, alone. With help, sure. I play some keys, I'll put some music that i composed actually last night, some kirtan too. Palms are for clapping if you can't play drums. You don't have to be a star to sing for Hari. Talent is external. Krishna doesn't care for it too much. Money satans have suceeded in ruining people's creativity by making them feel musically inadequate -- and the world keeps feeding blood to the "big stars." Everyone has an ipod buried in his ears listening to somebody braying foolishness. "Star talent" is little training, a video, promotion and engineering - nothing more. People enjoy being turned into retarded apes, for some reason. You and the guitar are singing for Krishna. You are not competing with Susan Boyle on Britain's got talent. Do the music part first, then add words to it. Monitor, so you don't make an idiot of yourself on Utube. Note - Rahman (who won Oscar for Slumdog) engineers his music on a big electronic keyboard.

Ah! Little sister has caught me. I believed her. Never make that mistake again! But I guess I asked for it, passing myself off as Michoel Schnitzler. Well making quality recordings is not that hard. I have a little four track recorder that I got ages ago that does a pretty good job and since then the improvement in quality has been dramatic. I will pull out my recorder and record separate tracks for voice, guitar and maybe bass and drum. Let's see how it turns out.

i did a crude little pop tribute to sri naam, 2 nights ago. The edges need fixing -- and the voice begin weak since i am playing and singing together.. I used some photos Prem Gopal sent me few years back. Enjoy! I'll fix it better later on.
