I've been trying to clean up around here, getting rid of old forums that have not been active while keeping those that have some valuable translations or discussions on board. I also went through and deleted accounts that had never posted anything. If your account was one of those, I'm sorry. You are welcome to create a new account. But this time participate please. Also, I have put most of the forums off bounds to guests. If anyone wishes to access those, they must become members. I think the feature that displays the last twenty postings still works, so that guests can see what has been posted but not comment. The General forum is open to all including guests.
What is ahead? Well, I am working on several projects and I will post the results of those translations and writings here periodically. The Songs of Govindadas are high on my list. I am also working on the works of Sri Kanupriya Goswami and hope to finish a series of his lectures, edited by his nephew, Sri Kisori Ray Goswami, aka Debuda. As part of this short introduction to one of the finest Caitanyite theologians of the 20th century, I am translating a short essay on the glorious past of the family of Sri Kanupriya Goswami by another great Caitanyite luminary of the 20th century, Sri Rasikamohana Vidyabhusana. Eventually, I would like to do some of that latter's extraordinary writings as well. In addition, for Kanupriya Goswami's book, I am doing the chapter from the Bhakti-sara-sammuccaya of Lokananandacarya on the importance of the guru, an important aspect of the phenomenon of association with the great ones, which is the subject of Goswami's book. That too I will post here in the forum once it is reasonably far advanced.
In short, the forum is not dead. It may not be the thriving garden it once was, but things still grow here. I have weathered many battles and struggles, but I am still ticking. My mind is filled with beautiful aspirations, no doubt the result of the power of my guru. That grace still pushes me on in spite of my many waverings and wanderings. I can still say, as I move towards the end of my sixth decade on the planet: IGM be damned! There is still one small voice on the planet that is trying to express real Caitanya Vaisnava thought and practice, however imperfectly. IGM has not succeeded at destroying it or turning is into something crass and banal. Maybe there is still hope in me that the wicked, poisonous dragon will eventually be slain.
[Sorry. I guess it is not true that recent postings in other forums can be seen in the twenty most recent postings feature. I just noticed some jewels posted recently by Madanamohan dasji that were not visible to me before I signed in. I guess to really get the rasa one needs to become a member. So to all you guests who aren't members I suggest you give up your wraith-like existences and assume identities. Then the doors will be open to you.]
