Energy (E) = mass (M) times the speed of light (C or the constant) squared
This has been verified in numerous experiments.
Physicists also flip the sides of the equation when considering particles and quanta in quantum mechanics. In other words mass is energy when you boil the equation down. Since our physical bodies have mass, they are in essence energy. We are energy even in the universe we perceive with our senses, nervous system and brain. So what does that tell us about our consciousness? What about different levels of consciousness described in Vedanta (the Uttara Mimamsa system of philosophy or darshan)?
Something to ponder while engaging in contemplation about life in general as members of the homo sapiens species of primates?
I'm almost done reading Stephen Hawking's A Brief History of Time, which is a good tie-in with Einstein's Fridge, which I finished reading the other day. He has a chapter titled Black Holes Ain't Exactly Black, wherein he describes how they actually glow. And the smaller their size, the brighter they glow. The BP supposedly describes gravity as the manifestation indirectly of Balarama (via Sankarshan, if memory serves - it has been quite a few years now since I read that part). We now know it is due to the curvature of space caused by bodies with extremely high mass (Yet it is one of the 4 universal forces yet to be incorporated into that Holy Grail of theoretical physics, the GUT of Grand Unified Theory. This is mentioned in The God Equation by Michio Kaku). Is Balarama the cosmic pitcher throwing curve balls around? Hope you like the baseball reference.
Anyways, some musings for those that just have their noses buried in some dusty old Sanskrit texts. Just don't sneeze on that dust! There are masks for that!
