From Sri Rupa's Laghu Bhagavatamrtam. 1-13
(Narada said)
All hail to him the illustrious Lord,
Krishna of taintless glory and adored;
Who grants creatures the liberated state,
When his fair emanations incarnate. 1
(S.B.X.87.46)
(Karabhajana yogi to Nimi)
Whose dark form shines with fair lustre sublime,
Whose weapons are his companions divine;
And those who are truly learned and wise,
Adore him by sankirtan sacrifice. 2
(S.B. XI.5.32)
May the abundant sweet nectar that drips
When the flute is pressed to Mukunda's lips,
Like lotus blooms, with modulating sound,
Increase my bliss divine beyond all bound. 3
May letters of the 'Hare Krishna' name,
Which from the mouth of Sri Chaitanya came,
Flood all the world with love and ecstasy,
And always prevail in divine glory. 4
In his annotation, Baladeva cites the verse from Brhan Naradiya Purana,
Only the name of Hari, Hari's name,
The name of Hari is the only gain;
Nor this nor that, nor other means are there,
In Kali's age to gain supreme welfare.
.....
The truth my Prabhupada* has disclosed,
In Bhagavat's Nectar*, by him composed,
Has been relished and its essence imbibed,
And in this work shall be briefly described. 5
* Prabhupada, for Sri Rupa is Sri Sanatana.
* Brihad Bhagavatamrtam
.....
Herein two types of nectar we devise,
Which from Krishna or from his lovers rise;
And first, my dear friends to felicitate,
The nectar of Krishna I shall relate. 6
Extensive reasoning I have forswore,
And take as proof the Word of Vedic lore. 7
'Scripture is the source'*, so the text proclaims,
And logic in its proper sphere remains;
And thus the Word as best proof is decreed,
In which the wisest sages are agreed. 8
*saastra yonitvaat. Bh.S. 1.1.3
Moreover, in the text we also see,
'Mere argument cannot established be.'*
And thus the wise sages by this declare,
For logomachy they have little care. 9
*tarkaapratisthaanaat. Bh.S. 2.1.11
Now the chief forms in order and degree,
Of exquisite attraction and beauty,
Krishna's essential nature to pursue,
Shall be characterised in sequence due. 10
His own form, and the forms one and the same,
And superimposition; these I name
Svayam-rupa, Tadekatma-rupa,
And the other as Avesha-rupa;
These three beyond the mundane nature shine,
And dwell in the eternal realm divine. 11
Svayam-rupa
The form from others independent shown,
In his person as 'his own form' is known. 12
The divine supreme ruler Krishna is,
Whose form consists of truth, knowledge and bliss,
Govinda, primal and beginningless,
Of all causes the final cause, causeless. 13
