From the Narasimha Purana. After the gods have addressed a hymn to Lord Hari, he reveals himself to their presence,
yusmaabhih samstuto devaa naamabhih kevalaih shubhaih/ ata eva prasanno'smi kimartham karavaani vah//
(the Illustrious one said) Ye gods! the hymn of praise you have addressed, Fraught with my names and fervently expressed, Hath pleased me much, therefore I do inquire What can I do to fulfil your desire.
deva-deva hrisikesa pundarikaaksa maadhava/ tvameva jaanaasi hare kim tasmaat pariprcchasi//
'Oh God of gods', the deities replied, 'Madhava, Hrishikesh, Oh Lotus-eyed! You know all things Hari, we ask you why, You lay before us this inquiry?'
