A paraphrase from Nabha dasji's Bhaktamala.
(Hail to the lover of his devotee! The plafyul Madanmohan Deity. )
Once, while Sanatan was dreaming, appeared The Lord Madanmohan, by all revered, Who said, 'Listen, and then do what I tell, In Parasuram Chauby's house I dwell, In Mathura, but you should with all care, Go there, and having found me, bring me here'* Then Sanatan to that man's dwelling hied, Where playful Madanmohan did abide, And as for begging alms, he came to see, Amazed, the Madanmohan Deity. Thereupon the old lady of the place, Said, 'Holy father, at what do you gaze? Since this Deity has here made dwelling, He has spoiled all, and ruined everything!' Then Sanatan said, 'And if that should be, Then deign to give this Deity to me. He has also ta'en from me, I declare, Everything but this loin cloth that I wear; So let me take him, and do not refuse, I have nothing, and nothing thence to lose.
*Sanatan at the time was residing around Aditya Tila.
