Low level thoughts have correlates with the brain. If you notice, the scanned images came from low level thoughts, like the one from the link, the subjects were watching movies. However, for higher thoughts that is not the case. Below I quote from a theist neurosurgeon's blog replying to a blog by an atheist neurosurgeon. "I have pointed out that for higher thought-- intellect (eg. solving mathematical problem, my example for you Vivek), judgement, will-- there is--again-- not one complete reduction of mental to material for any specific thought. Not one. Many materialists believe that the causal arrow from brain to mind is true, but no serious thinker on this issue claims that materialism has been "clearly established" by neuroscience."Even the atheist neurosurgeon admits: "We do not yet have a detailed enough model of the brain nor the ability to measure brain activity with sufficient resolution or calibration to come anywhere near such a task."[Sorry. I meant to respond to this, but instead I modified it. The words below are mine not Malati's, as if nobody could tell, It is just a matter of time. Next middle level thoughts will fall and then even the high level. I assume these classifications have some meaning (lower, middle, and high). As for myself, I have no idea what the difference might be.
