Jay Nitai,
Last 1st January 2011 after returning from US and quick tour from Braja , I was asked by Sri Nityananda Janmasthan Ekachakra Mahanta and my Uncle Guru Sri Jiva Saran Das Babaji ,to attend annual disappearance festival of one of the Dwadwas Gopal Sri Mahesh Pandit at Sri Pat Palpara.
At present the seva puja of Sri Mandir of SriMahesh Pandit Residence is being done by devotee of Sri Nityananda Janmasthan Ekachakra under guidance of Sri Jiva Saran Baba.
For general information , Dwadas Gopal (12 cowherds) are the famous 12 associates of Sri Nityananda Prabhu & through them Sri Nitayananda Prabhu lead the movement of Samkirtan throughout Bengal and eastern India region as per Mahaprabhu’s desire. These 12 cowherds were chiefly responsible in preaching and establishing Mahaprabhu Love Religion in India eventually. They established 12 Vaishnava Centers around their own residence (Sri Pat) throughout Bengal and thereby preaching and organizing devotees to hold various festivals, Utsava, Bhagavat Katha throughout the year. Because of their relentless effort by direct guidance of Sri Nityanada Prabhu, Mahaprabhu’s religions assumes the main religion in the whole eastern part of India and that become the source of saints in the sink named Vrindavan for last 500 years.
1st January 2011 was the disappearance festival of Sri Mahesh Pandit which happens to be the same day when another associate among 12 cowherds & very dear to Sri Nityananda Prabhu Sri Udhdharan Dutta Thakur left this world. His Sripat is at Saptagram in dist. Burdwan of West Bengal.
Sri Pat Palpara is situated near Krishnanagar on the mail rail line connecting Calcutta and Krishnanagar. And the Temple is just beside the railway station thus access to that place is very easy. It takes 1 hr 20 mins to reach by train from Calcutta and the name of the station is Palpara. The village is pretty good and calm place and the temple is pretty old having Mahesh Pandit’s own serviced beloved & beautiful Sri Sri Nitai Gaur.
I am not able to take the picture Sri Sri NitaiGaur this time but I have one from a booklet which I will scan and post later.
The festival started at the very morning with Kirtana and Suchaka Kirtana of Sri Mahesh Pandit and glory kirtana of his beloved Sri Nitai Gaur as sung by Sri Jiva Saran Das Baba. This was pretty intense and ecstatic. That followed by Bhoga Aroti of Sriman Mahaprabhu and Sri Nitai Gaur. After that the Prasad distribution ceremony. Devotees of Sri Nityayanda Janmastha Ekachakra also arrange free utensils and food grains distribution to the local needy people as done by Sri JivaSaran Das baba at the end.
The mood is very sweet and unique to the Gaudiya Vaishnava School of rural Bengal. By attending the festival here in Bengal one can have slightest idea about the mood and sweetness of Sankritana Movement at the very early age of Gaudiya Vaishnanva dharma and the touch of Sri Nitai Gaur.
I am uploading few picture for the pleasure of devotee circle.
The same place host the Samadhi of Sri Mahesh Pandit few yards away from main temple.
