Queensland Premier Anna Bligh said the cases had not yet been confirmed and there was no need for panic. "We do have two cases overnight of people checking into hospital whose symptoms are being tested," she said. "Clearly this is a very serious disease and we are taking it very seriously. "GPs have been advised to be on the lookout for symptoms and all emergency departments were on the lookout for symptoms." Qld swine flu tests negative Updated: 09:35, Monday April 27, 2009 Two Queenslanders feared to have picked up swine flu in Mexico have been given the all-clear. Special Report: World Tackles Swine Flu
GENEVA, April 27 (Xinhua) -- Five suspected swine flu cases have been found in Switzerland, the country's health authorities said on Monday.
Meanwhile, the health authorities are setting up a hotline to advise people on the potential dangers of the human swine flu virus, local media reported.
The Federal Health Office also said that it was closely monitoring the outbreak of the deadly disease in Mexico and the United States amid fears of a potential pandemic.

WHO Revises Pandemic Alert Scale: Swine Flu Now Qualifies for Phase 5
by Mike Adams, the Health Ranger, NaturalNews Editor
(NaturalNews) The World Health Organization has revised its pandemic alert scale this week, right in the midst of a swine flu outbreak. Under the new criteria, a Phase 4 rating indicates human-to-human spread of a virus, a Phase 5 rating indicates human-to-human spread of the virus into at least two countries in one region, and a Phase 6 rating indicates a global pandemic with widespread outbreaks.
Interestingly, the WHO is quite aware that swine flu has now spread to Mexico, the United States and Canada, as is evidenced by this statement on their website: The Committee considered available data on confirmed outbreaks of A/H1N1 swine influenza in the United States of America, Mexico, and Canada. The Committee also considered reports of possible spread to additional countries... (http://www.who.int/mediacentre/news...)
... and yet, amazingly, the WHO has not yet raised the swine flu alert level to the phase for which it clearly qualifies (Phase 5). After all, hasn't this swine flu virus already achieved "human-to-human spread into at least two countries in one region?" (Mexico, the U.S. and Canada, by my counting, would qualify as three countries in one region.)
So why is the WHO not following its own well-defined guidelines for categorizing viral outbreaks?
Downplaying the infections It seems that the decision makers at the WHO, along with Mexico's health authorities, are working hard to make swine flu appear less dangerous than it really is. Infections are spreading by the day, with new countries found to be infected on a daily basis. The death toll in Mexico City is rising quickly, and the virus is cropping of simultaneously in cities and nations around the globe (a highly unusual spread pattern, historically speaking). Is this not enough to warrant a Phase 5 declaration?
Interestingly, at the same time, the U.S. Dept. of Homeland security has done essentially nothing to restrict air travel from Mexico or to screen arriving passengers for swine flu infections. Sure, they claim to be running a "passive screening" program now, but that only amounts to "DHS personnel on the lookout for sniffles." It's hardly a robust screening program like the ones set up in the airports of Asian nations.
Given the behavior of Swine Flu so far, the response of world health authorities to this outbreak seems suspiciously apathetic. I've studied all the major pandemic outbreaks since 1918, and I've never read about a new, highly-contagious influenza virus appearing almost overnight in eight different countries. That fact alone should be alarming to anyone familiar with infectious disease agents.
Sure, the fatality rate in the U.S. may seem low right now, but it was probably low in Mexico City early on, too. The deaths might start to kick in a week or two later than the original carrier infections. So the fact that the U.S. has so far escaped any swine flu deaths (officially, anyway) may only be a matter of timing, not a measure of actual danger posed by the virus.
With infection numbers rising fast -- over 100 students in a single New York City school are now confirmed with the infection -- the U.S. is bound to start seeing more severe swine flu cases emerge.

What can we say? It had to happen sooner or later because of the way humans in some parts of the world live in such close, unhygienic proximity to animals. Those of us who are naturally reclusive and do not eat meat are more likely to weather this better. I think it is a bit premature to start taking drastic actions on a personal level, except for canceling any trips to Mexico. Let's see what the various governments and government agencies can do to control the disease. It seems like a cause for concern, but not panic. People appear to be recovering from it. See this.

Premature...? Dude It was raised to a Level 5 Alert today....
Various sources from all over the world are saying they are not giving us the entire story to try and keep the public at bay....and I believe that 100%.
It's a manufactured Bio Weapon, this is not a natural virus
thanks for the response Nitai

What evidence is that this is more than that?

bio weapon? as in terrorrism? but isn't it too slow spreading then? i mean, considering that a virus takes about 10 days to incumbate, and that there have been 150 deaths reported in 1 week, and even if, lets say, governments are not reporting the "real" numbers which should be then twice as many as those reported, 300 to 400 deaths, if the virus were indeed a weapon of mass destruction, it really isn't an efficient one, i would say. so its like saying that terrorrists would let some firecrackers loose on the lobby of the world trade center and claim a real attack had happened. just the fear is not real terrorrism. actual mass killing would qualify this as terrorrism. but it seems to be just a disease spreading fast due to differences in hygiene standards around the world. and the fact that governments try to contain the panic element, well, thats only expected.
no?

the evidence for this being man made will only be scoffed at by you, but use your logic...
Pig (from two continents), bird and human virus all rolled up into one? HELLO!!!
I suggest you Google the term...'useless eaters'
I'll post some stuff about this bio-weapon, and btw, you will be hearing more and more about this being a bio weapon over the next month...as it moves up to level 6
love ya bro stay safe!

Well at least you got a little discussion going. Have everything you need behind your barricades? We can send you a care package or two if supplies get low. Won't include any pork, bro. ;D
Your signal seems to be coming from Lafayette CO which is not far from Boulder so you must be my good friend and intermittent opponent Jija. Reflecting back over the years of our interactions online, I am slowly coming to the conclusion that you are an aMza or zaktyAveza avatara of Narada. You like him love to stir things up.
Anyway, be happy and fearless.

Colo. investigates 5 suspected swine flu cases
Associated Press - April 29, 2009 7:34 PM ET
DENVER (AP) - Colorado health officials are awaiting test results for what they call five suspected cases of swine flu. No cases have been confirmed yet in Colorado.
The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment says it expects the results Thursday from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Officials are not disclosing where the suspected cases are in Colorado.
Officials say swine flu may be responsible for 150 deaths in Mexico. The number of U.S. cases is nearing 100 in at least 10 states.
Health officials said Wednesday a 2-year-old boy who died in Houston was the first swine flu death in the U.S.
