I have been enjoying the playing of Mita Nag, daughter of Manilal Nag, all day long. Lend an ear. (Wow! the tabla player in this performance, Anuradha Pal, is really working it! These ladies rock!) She and her father belong to the Visnupur gharana. Here is another. Here is yet another. The Visnu Gharana is rooted deeply in the Vaisnava culture brought to Visnupur by Srinivasacarya and Narottama das Thakura and their companions. Listening to her music and that of her father brings me extraordinary joy. Here they are together.
