I think this is a thread where one can ask also delicate questions.
Some time ago I discussed with Satyanarayan das from the Jiva Institute, and he was very outraged as I said that the gopis and Krishna have sex, and that I read about that in Govinda Lilamrita (from Gadhadar-pran).
Now, has somebody quotes that may prove one or the other.
What is the meaning of sex on the spiritual plane, if we accept such a plane exists?

Well, anadiji, that is a difficult question. I know you are no longer here, but wherever you are may you be well and thanks for raising the question. I say if it looks like a horse, walks like a horse, neys like a horse, and eats hay, its a horse. The implication of Satyanarayana's denial is that sex is always dirty. Maybe it is not. Maybe it is a profound way to express one's love for someone, as much as we can in our mundane identities. When Radha and Krsna have sex the only way we can think of it as dirty is if we think that they are dirty, that they are selfish, that they are like us. That is a huge aparadha and a huge failure in our understanding of who they are. They are not like us. Anyway, our discussion in another thread of the paddhatis and gutikas that are available in our tradition reminded me that at one point I began a translation of Krsnadas Kaviraja's Govinda-lilamrta. I hunted it down and here it is.

I hunted it down and here it is.Fantastic!!! Thanks for putting up this link. I'm excited to read what you've translated thus far of the Govinda-lilamrita! About the question of sex, I've thought of this point as well. Since Brahma Samhita explains that one of Krsna's senses can do the function of any other of His senses, certainly what we consider 'sex' has all kinds of other implications and forms rather than just the sex of the material world. I mean how often to we read about the sidelong glances between Krsna and Radha (and/or the gopis as well)? Couldn't that also be 'sex' because Krishna can do with His eyes what he can do with any of His other senses, right? He can accept an offering of food by looking at it or by hearing the prayer of His bhakta. He can eat by touching. He can see by hearing. Why couldn't He give Radha all kinds of feelings and/or experiences just by looking at Her? Or even just by thinking of Her?!! And how about the 'sex' of other rasas? Of course maybe sex is only for madhurya, but who's to say? I mean what is truly the highest spiritual conception of sex? Maybe in that sense sex is the highest pleasure one can experience (give, not take) within one's personal rasa. And even so, the 'sex' of the manjaris in relation to Radha Govinda is that when Krishna engages with Radha and She feels the bliss associated with His contact, the manjaris automatically feel what Radha is feeling. Well, I may have that wrong in terms of it being 'sex' but it is something to think about. I believe this experience of the manjaris is discussed in Prem Bhakti Candrika but I could be wrong. And how amazing is that?!!! It is really mind-blowing to try to think about it. Maybe this is too much, but I thought I'd chime in for better or worse. Jai Radhe Shyam!!
